Reflection by the Rev. Ian Oliver, UCY Pastor and Sr. Assoc. Chaplain

I’ve been wondering if spirituality is something extra that we add on top of all our normal work, activities and habits.  I catch myself recommending to people that their lives, productivity and happiness will be improved if they only add this new practice to our lives.  But my tradition says that we’ve already been given all the spiritual gifts we need.  I wonder if my spiritual life isn’t something new and extra, but is actually something that is already within my life – in my interactions with others, in my emotions, in my walk outdoors on a beautiful day.  What if my spiritual life is noticing where God is already present – and finding a new congruence between my head, my heart, and my actions?
