Sikhism

Sikhism is a monotheistic dharmic religion from northern India, founded in the late fifteenth century CE.  Sikhism’s founding figure was Guru Nanak, who was followed by nine other gurus before Sikh scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, was named the eleventh and final guru. There are around thirty million sikhs worldwide.

Sikh Ek Onkar

The Ik Onkar (“one god”) is a combination of two characters: the numeral Ik (one) and the first letter of the word Onkar (God). It is a symbol of the oneness of God in Sikhism and is found on all religious scriptures and places such as Gurdwaras.  Ik Onkar is the first phrase in the Mul Mantra meaning “there is only one God.”
