Peer Liaisons

The Peer Liason program helps Yale first years navigate the beginning of college with the help of trained upper class mentors who are affiliated with both residential colleges and cultural centers and communities within Yale, including the Chaplain’s Office. Hello!! My name is Afnan Shure (she/her) and I am a sophomore in Saybrook College studying Economics and Global Affairs. I am really excited to introduce you to all of Yale’s spaces and be a supportive resource. I look forward to helping you navigate Yale, and foster a welcoming community.

Originally from Kigali, Rwanda, Audrey’s studies are driven by a passion for developing sustainable solutions to the economic and social challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa. Raised in a Catholic family, Audrey is deeply committed to supporting students of all faiths as they navigate the exciting and sometimes overwhelming journey of college life, helping them discover themselves and their spiritual path.

Ishnan is from Hamden, Connecticut, and outside of her academic commitments she works as a Peer Liaison for the Chaplain’s Office and serves as the Social Media Manager for Amnesty International at Yale. In her spare time, you would find her spending time at Yale’s cultural centers and museums. She is excited to meet everyone and lead through love and faith.

Sabrina is a Junior in Saybrook College hailing from New York, NY. She is majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and also attaining a certificate in Education Studies and Advanced Hebrew. She is passionate about music, cooking, and anything outdoors. She is looking forward to returning to the Chaplain’s Office PL team for another year of guidance, schmoozing, and fun!

Born and raised in Illinois (not Chicago), Sarah Mahmoud is a ULA for MATH 112 and a buttery worker. She enjoys working with little kids– she’s a coach with Girls on the Run, and an older sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters–both at Truman elementary school. Fun Fact: Her week long, first year orientation program, Harvest, took place on a flower farm. That’s where she got over her fear of dogs.

Wendy Cruz (she/her/hers)

Wendy is a sophomore in Grace Hopper. She is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, majoring in psychology. On campus, she plays her flute in music groups and  does research at a psychology lab. Wendy loves to read, paint, and embroider in her free time. Wendy is excited to get to know everyone and provide  support and guidance to students in their first year at Yale!
