Consider This: 11/18/2024

As Chaplaincy Manager, much of my day can be wrapped up in emails and spreadsheets and administrative tasks. Recently, I stepped away from that to participate in “Cookies and Coloring.” After a pause, the Chaplain’s Office is again hosting this time on Thursday afternoons to stop, enjoy a cookie and center yourself while coloring. A time to step away from the stress and busyness of the semester, something so important for good mental health.

It was just what my soul needed. I slowed down, focused on the sheet in front of me and the different colors coming together to bring something beautiful into existence. At the same time, the students around the table brought vibrancy and joy to the conversation as we introduced ourselves and chatted about everything from the Harvard/Yale football game to favorite music to November recess plans.

I was struck by how much we need each other, especially as the holidays approach, as exams and final papers loom, as homesickness may be growing by the day. Slow down and value the bonds we form and the shared experiences that truly enrich our lives; the conversations that spark new thoughts, the connections that provide support, and the simple, everyday moments that bring joy. These moments and relationships are the anchors that ground us as we navigate through all that life puts before us. And remember, you are not alone.
