As we move through this season, the Chaplain’s Office offers a gentle reminder that we are here for you through all the complexities of being human in this time. This week might be a stressful one for you because of the US election and other concerns happening in your life. You may be exhausted, full of hope or fear, or trying not to engage.
To stay afloat during times such as these, we encourage you to slow down, take deep breaths and draw comfort from activities that tend to offer grounding. These may be practical such as getting enough sleep and eating properly. These may be rituals, both spiritual and secular such as prayer, meditation, exercising, journaling, playing music, dancing or taking a meditative walk. They may be social, prioritizing time with friends and loved ones in person, on the phone, or on screen.
No matter what, we encourage you to be gentle to yourselves, to center on hope, and to lead with compassion.
Chaplains have extended their office hours this week. If you’re looking for someone to talk to you can sign up here. Our office and sacred spaces are open to you for conversation, a hug, tea, ice cream, prayer, or quiet contemplation. You are always welcome.
