One day, we will all look back at our time at Yale. Personally, I want to remember the spontaneous trips to Milkcraft, the walks down Grove Street Cemetery, friendships that lifted me up in my weakest moments, and echoes of late night laughter.
With so much to do on my to-do list it can be easy to get through the day without having a heartfelt conversation, calling my mom to ask if she is feeling better, or doing a random act of kindness (why not surprise your close friend with their favorite coffee/tea order?).
Our time at Yale will end. When you look back, what do you want to see/feel/smell/touch? During our time here, there will inevitably be hardships and growing pains. It is then that we must hold on to the blessings we have received.
I’ll leave you with a short passage from Romans 12, a letter from the Apostle Paul to the Romans (~57 A.D).
15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!
