Religious Traditions at Yale

This chart represents the self-reported religious traditions of incoming students over the past 4 years.  Students receive a registration packet from the Yale College Dean's Office prior to the matriculation freshman year.  Included in the packet is an optional religious information card.  Rate of return is 51%; respondents N=2681; matriculants N=5247.

Statistical concerns aside (e.g. sampling bias introduced by atheist non-respondents), we hope that this charts exemplifies the diversity of religious traditions at Yale. In the last century, Yale has transformed from a Christian university with required daily church attendance, into a multifaith university that welcomes and nurtures students of any religious tradition.
