Fr. Steven serves as the chaplain for Orthodox Christians attending Yale University. He holds a BA Degree in Business from the University of Minnesota, M.A. in Liturgical Music, M.Div., and D.Min. Degrees from St. Vladimir’s Seminary in Crestwood, NY. He also holds an M.A. Degree in Community Counseling from Fairfield University, and is a licensed professional counselor in CT.

Following his ordination to the Holy Priesthood in 1992, Fr. Steven served parishes in CT, most notably St. Alexis Orthodox Church in Clinton that began as a storefront mission parish. During his fifteen years serving as pastor, the community built a church that was consecrated, and became a full parish. During these years Fr. Steven was certified as a chaplain and CPE Supervisor, and served in CT hospitals, including: building a pastoral care department and CPE program at Norwalk Hospital, serving as the Director of Pastoral Care and Education at The Hospital of Saint Raphael, and Director of Pastoral Education at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY. He has been involved in chaplaincy at the international level for many years, and with colleagues worked with interested persons in several countries who were interested in building chaplaincy training and ministry. He remains the Director of the Office of Institutional Chaplaincy for the Orthodox Church in America, providing endorsement for Orthodox chaplains serving in institutional settings.

For the past five years Fr. Steven served as Dean of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Seminary, in South Canaan, PA. He held the academic rank of Associate Professor of Pastoral Arts and Praxis, teaching courses in pastoral theology, pastoral care and counseling, and parish administration, and developing the field education program to include a seminary-based CPE program from 2017-2018. Fr. Steven was appointed to serve Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in New Haven in January 2019. Fr. Steven is married to his wife Cindy, and enjoys scuba diving when opportunity allows.
