Event description:

During the past year we’ve been exploring the fundamentals of Buddhist histories, principles, and practices. Last fall we discussed some of the commonalities that help to link many of the world’s diverse Buddhisms, including the Three Marks of Existence (impermanence, suffering, no-self) and The Four Noble Truths with their Eightfold Path. We also examined Mahayana Buddhism’s Bodhisattva Path. This spring we discussed the historical and geographical contexts that make various Buddhisms unique: the growth of Theravada in Southeast Asia, the rise of Mahayana in East Asia, the development of Vajrayana in Tibet, and the arrival of all the various Buddhist traditions in America.

Tonight, following a brief meditation period, join us for a Dharma Discussion facilitated by Reverend Kanji, in which we’ll summarize the past year and address any unresolved questions that may still linger regarding these Basics of Buddhism, sharing our own insights and experiences. We also can have an open sangha conversation about what we would like our Dharma Discussion focus to be for next fall. What would you like to see happen as we move forward together?

Everyone is welcome – beginner and experienced practitioners of all Buddhist traditions, and non-Buddhists, too!
